From Estonia to NYC, Fotografiska is an internationally renowned destination for photography.  Founded in 2010 by brothers, Jan and Per Broman in Stockholm, it was built on the principle foundation of photography as a safe haven of innovation, inclusivity, and self-expression.

Rising stars are displayed next to icons, and styles range across abstract, landscape, portrait, documentary and more. All that matters is the communicative power of the image. The presentation of photography is powerful and unparalleled and includes over 200 exhibitions to date, such as David LaChapelle, Annie Leibovitz, Albert Watson, Sally Mann, Cooper & Gorfer, Ren Hang, and Christian Tagliavini.

Fotografiska shows several rotating exhibitions at once, which are developed directly with photographers, galleries, estates, and private collectors.  Their most recent exhibition is located in the Flatiron District of NYC, at 281 Park Avenue South. in the “The Church Mission Building,” a registered landmark built-in 1894.  The six-floor, 45,000 sq ft. the historic landmark building will be home to Fotografiska New York’s multi-concept venue.  Featuring three floors of exhibition space and restaurant Verōnika, a dining room and bar brought to you by STARR Restaurants and designed by Roman and Williams Buildings and Interiors.

Verōnika is a nod to Veronica, the patron saint of photography.  The interior design draws inspiration from the moody qualities of photography during the late 1800s, seamlessly incorporating and celebrating the innate qualities of the iconic building Verōnika calls home.  Executive chef Robert Aikens created a menu centered on seasonality and sustainability, inspired by the comforting traditional fare of northern France, Austria, and Eastern Europe. Verōnika is currently open for dinner only, with Lunch and Brunch coming soon.

Fotografiska New York opened in early December with five distinct solo exhibitions of photography by Ellen von Unwerth, Tawny Chatmon, Adi Nes, Helene Schmitz, and a partnership with TIME featuring the work of Anastasia Taylor-Lind. As part of the first year, Fotografiska New York is pleased to announce Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants as the Official Hotel Partner. Fotografiska New York and Kimpton will also be partnering on a traveling exhibition in 2020 that will leverage the power of photography to explore in new ways the diverse stories that make us uniquely human.

The unique model of Fotografiska combines art, culturally eclectic event programming, exceptional dining experiences, and curated retail into one destination - a truly must-see experience if you’re in the NYC area this winter.
